Johnny Rockets Expands International Franchise Footprint With Bogota Opening

The Johnny Rockets brand of all-American food and fun joins Colombia’s burgeoning restaurant landscape by opening its newest freestanding restaurant in the heart of Bogota near malls, restaurants, nightlife and casinos. According to Euromonitor International, full-service restaurants sales grew in in Colombia by 8 percent in 2013 due to an increase in disposable income and a broader portfolio of options. Particularly in Bogota, the largest city in Colombia and one of the biggest in Latin America, the growing epicurean and nightlife scene has attributed to full-service restaurant success and an increase interest in global brands and cuisines.“Johnny Rockets already commands a loyal following in Latin America, with many countries in the region embracing our all-American menu and entertaining atmosphere,” explains Scott Chorna, Senior Vice President of International Development for Johnny Rockets. “Expanding into Colombia was a natural fit based on the country’s love for American culture and the desire for a more interactive dining experience. We have already received a warm welcome from Bogota residents and visitors and anticipate further expansion throughout the country. With more than 55 employees and 5,000 sq. feet, the Bogota Johnny Rockets, opened by entrepreneurs Roxana Garces and Jaime Lopez, boasts the iconic restaurant’s modern Americana menu, including made-to-order burgers, American fries, hand-spun shakes and sandwiches.  The restaurant also offers alcoholic beverages and specialty drinks. It is a destination for families, couples and groups seeking relaxed, casual fun and a unique dining experience, including dancing servers, twirling straws and timeless American music.Since opening in July, Bogota guests have expressed keen interest in the Johnny Rockets experience that is reminiscent of modern Americana. The company optimistically hopes to build on that interest and expand its footprint to other large cities throughout the country. With slightly more than 100 restaurants operating outside the U.S. today, Johnny Rockets plans to double that number by 2017 as part of its global strategy.
